3 to 12 year olds
Two age groups
Summer workshops are split into two age groups - 3 to 5 years of age and 6 to 12 years of age. Each age group has a qualified teacher (and an assistant for the younger group) and have their own designated work space. The workshops are designed for children to continue informal learning during the summer but maintain fun and enjoyment. Older Summer workshops are based on themes such as Space, Harry Potter, Ghost Busters and Doctor Who.
The older children have a strong arts and crafts base with reading and writing activities included within the daily and weekly activities. Activies are planned on individual, pair work and small group basis. Summer workshops are not designed as intensive English lessons. The emphasis is on fun!
The younger group also have themes such as Pirates and Mermaids, Knights and Princesses, Cowboys, Dinosaurs, The Circus and Animals. These workshops are based on free play with children working on arts and crafts or phonic activities with the teacher or classroom assistant.
Other Relevant Information
Children must come with suncream already applied. A sunhat is also strongly suggested. A refillable drink bottle is advisable (clearly labelled with your child's name). Please make sure children have sensible footwear for outdoor games. Sandles and crocs are not advisable as they can be slippy or pose dangers to toes during group games.
For the younger age group a change of clothes is also requested.
Packed lunches are required each day. There are no facilities to reheat food. Snacks and drinks will be provided for mid-morning and afternoon.

“I initially chose the summer workshops as the timings best fitted my work schedule. I worried about telling the children they would have to go to “school” in the summer holidays. However, there was a palpable excitement each morning, wondering what was going to happen that day! I also couldn’t wait for the end of the day to hear the next instalment! They never usually tell me anything that happens at school but now the stories never end! Thank you for making the activities so much fun that the children don’t even realize they’re learning! Thanks too for the model island! Where will we put it? ☺”– K.M..
